Ketchup

Homemade Ketchup


Yield: 2 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 {but refrigerate over night please}
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

12 ounces Tomato Paste
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Dry Ground Mustard
1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
1/2 scant teaspoon Cinnamon
2 pinches of Ground Clove
2 pinches of Allspice
1 pinch of Cayenne Pepper
2/3 cup Water
4 tablespoons White Wine Vinegar

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Store in an airtight container overnight for the flavors to develop.
Use where ever ketchup is called for and enjoy!

I made this ketchup with the following changes. I substituted 4 tbls apple cider vinegar and 2 tbls apple juice for the white wine vinegar and added 1/2 tsp onion powder. I increased salt to 1 tsp.  I microwaved one batch for 2 minutes on high to help dissolve sugar.  This recipe adapted from www.simplyscratch.com
